Congratulations!  If you have received your User ID and Password in the mail then you have probably already successfully logged in to the Two Rivers Magnet Middle School Parent Portal.  Parent Portal allows you to check in on your child's academic achievement process through out the school year.  If you are a parent or guardian of a Two Rivers student and have not received your User ID and Password in the mail by May 12th then please use the contact information at the bottom of this page to request access.

The information provided here is a detailed view of the information provided to you on the Parent Portal.  This page will also provide you with details on who to contact if you have questions concerning your students grades, if you are having trouble accessing the Parent Portal or what to do if you've forgotten either your Login ID or Password.

What do I do once I've successfully accessed the Two Rivers Magnet Middle School Parent Portal?

The first screen of information that you see when you've entered the Parent Portal appears below:

There are two icons currently available to parents.  Grades and Attendance and School Bulletin

Grades and Attendance is the screen you see above.  It displays two weeks (last week and this week) of attendance data for your child, the Courses he/she are currently enrolled in, final grades by Trimester, and total absences/tardies for the school year.  As you probably know Two Rivers is in the middle of a process to move all of our data over to a comprehensive student administration system called PowerSchool.  We are still correcting attendance data so you may find some discrepancies in reporting.  Right now the PowerSchool data that you view through the Parent Portal may not reflect the official attendance data recorded by the school.  We appreciate your patience while we make our way through this transition.

Attendance

Attendance marks are displayed when ever a student is not present for a complete school day.  Any time a student is present for the day attendance will be recorded as a blank.  All other attendance codes are explained in the legend at the bottom of the screen.  At Two Rivers, teachers outside of homeroom, are not required to maintain class room attendance in PowerSchool.  While the systems allows for that and attendance is displayed in the Parent Portal for each class, it is only the Homeroom attendance (HR) that truly reflects your child's school attendance.  You are more likely to notice this in the Attendance Totals in the right hand column.  For Two Rivers parents and guardians the Homeroom attendance totals are a more accurate reflection of your child's attendance than the final Attendance Totals at the bottom of the Absences/Tardies columns.

Grades

Getting parents and guardians accurate and current grade information is right now the driving factor for putting the Parent Portal in place.  The Parent Portal will allow you to view your child's final Achievement grades (as indicated by the arrow in the screen shot above) as well as the Assessment scores that they are based on.  Final Grades by Trimester are listed along side each course on your students Grades and Attendance screen.  Some courses like Phys Ed, will not display a final grade as these are Achievement grades only.  Work Habits grades are sent home to parents and guardians on a printed Report Card and do not appear here.  To see the Assessment scores that make up any final grade, click on that final grade and the following screen will appear:

This course Language Arts has six Assessments that make up the Final Grade of 4.  The Score column to the right of each assessment reflects that this student has received a score of 4 out of a possible score of 4.  The resulting grade of each assessment in this case is four as is reflected in the Grd column to the far right.

You can return to the Grades and Attendance screen by clicking on the Grades and Attendance icon.

School Bulletin

The School Bulletin will be used to display school announcements that may be of interest to parents and guardians. Simply click on the icon to see if there are any bulletins for the day.

Who to Contact?

For questions concerning you child's grades in any given course just click on the teachers name on the Grades and Attendance screen to send an email message.  You can also give them a call by dialing 860-290-5320 and leaving a message.
