Connecticut Coalition for Achievement Now recognition
In the tradition of Connecticut’s great advocacy movements—from the Connecticut Woman Suffrage Association to Harriet Beecher Stowe and the abolitionists—the Connecticut Coalition for Achievement Now (ConnCAN) is an advocacy organization building a new movement of concerned Connecticut citizens working to create fundamental change in our education system.
In 2008 Two Rivers was recognized by ConnCAN as the number two ranked middle school in the state in relation to student achievement of African Americans. Representatives from the organization came to visit Two Rivers in November. They interviewed staff and students and filmed in a number of classrooms. They produce a video every year highlighting successful schools and programs that they distribute across the state
