Below are some of the student chaparones of this year's event:

Kirsten Tamborini
7th grade CREC TRMMS science teacher. Central CT. State University BS. Southern CT. State University MS, summer whale research with 5 species, especially humpbacks in Newfoundland, Canada, Project Oceanology certified instructor.

Edmund Smith
8th grade CREC TRMMS science teacher. UConn BS Natural Resources Conservation, MA Kinesiology. Organized a Jr. Bioblitz at CREC TRMMS Oct. 2004.

Jeff Moss
CREC TRMMS PTO President and strong supporter of the Bioblitz coming here. St. Francis Hospital, Physician Assistant in Cardiology. Assisted with Jr. Bioblitz at CREC TRMMS Oct. 2004.

Lisa Moss
CREC TRMMS Executive Officer and equally strong supporter of the Bioblitz coming here. South Windsor Jr. Woman’s Club parliamentarian. Assisted with Jr. Bioblitz at CREC TRMMS Oct. 2004. Co-coach of the winning New England Middle School Science Bowl team.

Nathan Gardner
Lehigh University, BS Environmental Science with a concentration in Geology. University of Maine, MS in Geoscience and Quaternary Climate Science. Minor research in the western US, Newfoundland, New Zealand, and Antarctica. Antarctic research designed to contribute data for constructing sea-level curves from beach deposits along the western coast of the Ross Embayment to help identify the cause for the retreat of the West Antarctic Ice Sheet in the last 10,000 years, and to help answer the questions of whether the ice sheet is still retreating and whether it will continue to retreat into the future and contribute tens of feet of global sea-level rise.

Rose Salonikios
Bates College Graduate, BS in Biology, intensified studies in marine biology while participating in Denmark International Studies Program; Summer Environmental Education Intern at Northwest Park, Windsor, CT where she independently planned and carried through canoe trips, environmental lessons for children, and family education programs, lead nature walks, and worked closely with park rangers on field work.

Monica Hughes
Houghton College in Houghton NY, B.S. in Biology, Magna Cum Laude. SUNY-ESF at Syracuse, NY. MS in Environmental and Forest Biology, currently working on her Ph.D. Intern at Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew. Harvard fellowship. Numerous academic awards especially from the Mycological Society of America, numerous publications especially on fungi from New Zealand and numerous presentations given on fungi.

Ben Hayes
Certified Oregon State Park Forest Ranger; Graduate of Middlebury College, cum laude, BS in Environmental Studies with a minor in Philosophy and Religion; founder of the Thoreau Literary Society a nature writing club; collaborated with local forest rangers to establish a Forestry Management Plan in Middlebury.

David Birdsey
University of Connecticut, BS in Natural Resources, summer grad studies with striped bass feeding of river herring, Holbrook Island Sanctuary work in Maine, studies of European Starling and ground foraging seasonal differences.

Ryan Dibala
University of Connecticut, BS Natural Resource Management and Engineering, concentration in Fisheries and Wildlife Conservation, minor in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology. Helped coordinate a sea turtle festival and conducted research on aquaculture of the Lion's paw scallop (Nodipecten subnodosus) in Baja, California, Mexico."

Kipp Callahan
Tufts University, Sophomore, Environmental Science & History co-majors. ENVIROTHON Team Windham High School 2 years. Most memorable natural history event was being stuck in an incredible ice storm in Pennsylvania.

Jim Ellsworth
Fairfield University with a BA in History. University of Bridgeport in Education and Administration MS and 6th year degree. Stamford teacher >thirty years, first grade to eighth grade. Project Explore, Stamford's gifted program for sixth grade. Past ten years social studies teacher at Scofield Magnet Middle School, a math, science and technology school. Organized a bioblitz at SMMS for 200 sixth graders last four years.
